Two-Side (Real name: Unabara Shin) is the fourth prisoner who went under trial in the first MILGRAM novel. His book of sin is called "Sin Of Worship".
Character Description[]
Appearance[]
A young boy with chestnut-brown hair and a beauty mark below his eyes, seen as conventionally attractive. He wore glasses in the past, but doesn't now.
Personality[]
When he is first introduced, he is friendly and seen as social. He is described as someone who is likely to be popular with girls. He believes in giving people what they want and views relationships as transactional in that way. However, he is also an obsessive stalker in love with his idealised version of Sumi and aggressively devoted towards her. He sees devotion as a form of love. Two-Side is also not above manipulation, and is able to show kindness to people without liking them, even kissing Close just so she'd comply with him.
History[]
In middle school, Shin sat behind Sumi and found her to be quite attractive. He was intrigued by her introverted personality. One day, Sumi defended him from some other boys who were picking on him. He was never able to properly thank her as she never had the means to interact with him. This made Shin's love for Sumi grow even more which she barely noticed. He tried confessing to her, only to get rejected as she didn't really know him. However, he didn't mind.
In junior high, Shin was also a huge fan of an idol named Ai. Although he supported Ai heavily, she ended up dying from unknown causes. Shin blamed himself for not having supported her enough and vowed to dedicate everything towards Sumi do that the same doesn't happen to her.
In his final year of high school, Shin put in the effort to become more popular in hopes that it would increase his chances with Sumi. Later, he decided to adopt the alias "Shitenshi" and began his path to worship Sumi. He stuck notes about her on the chalkboard (much to her horror) and sent the class messages about her. He thought this was a good idea. He learned that his classmate Aiba was planning to report him to the principal but fortunately, at this time he also learned she was in love with him. He invited Aiba to the classroom alone and asked her to be his accomplice in exchange for anything she wants. He even kissed her to prove he was dedicated. The following days, Shin pretended to be Aiba's boyfriend while he helped her spread aggressive affection towards Sumi. In spite of his fake relationship, his love for Sumi was evident.
Only, Shin's plan backfired when students get annoyed by his behaviour and take it out on Sumi. He was pissed that all the students are harassing Sumi when that was not his original intention. He tried defending Sumi from her classmates but it's too late- they'd all ganged up against her. Around this time, Shin became friends with Sumi's old friend Naki upon stopping her from self-harming at the park. The two slowly grew into quite close friends.
Later, Shin got information that Sumi had died. Her old friend Naki had invited him over to have a calm and friendly talk about it. Shin went to meet her despite knowing she would be mad, hoping to explain his side of the story. But before she could say anything, Naki had ended his life.
